Are most Republicans elated that Bush's friend Musharraf managed to secure the election from his competition ?

Not exactly, no. If it really was Musharraf and his goons behind the asination, I'm worried that it could make that whole part of the world even less stable than it is now -- which, surprise surprise, would be a bad thing.
