Explanation of the poem "Photography" by Nikki Giovanni?

She is saying that everything we experience is photographed on the film of the heart. I think this is actually true. Everything we experience becomes snap shots as impressions on a roll of film but not only in our brain but in our soul or heart. It's the impressions we have in a societal context that she says separates us from the rest of life, like thinking we have the best when it's what is free, like the surf and sea that exists for all lovers, that is the best.
