Injury at major retail store.......terrible neglect!?

I was at a major "home improvement type" store yesterday,because of "terrible" neglect on the store's part......there were two huge nails sticking straight up on the ground that were right out in the open......I was looking straight ahead not paying attention...and stepped on them.They went right thru my shoe and into my foot. Long story short,they weren't very "sympathetic" at all. They even made me walk from the outside area of the store to the inside.Spent last night until 11pm at emergency,had x-rays,tetnus shot,pain shot,pain med and antiobotics. Did an injury report,got pictures right away of the "culprit",even though they tried to "whisk it away"! They gave me the number of their "risk" person to call. So what now? I see this as terrible "neglect",even the store manager said that it was. What do I do now. I have to go back to my dr. for follow up. I have to work so am going to work feeling "horrible"......my foot is killing me,my arms are sore from the shots and I can't take pain medicine while at work. Should I just ask them for medical costs and pain and suffering,or take it further? I'm not sue happy by any means but this has really affected my life right now and I had to shell out a lot of money last night. Thank you for any help,it is very much appreciated.
